In March 2019, WATA Chemicals commenced commercial operations of its second sulfuric acid unit, enhancing its production capacity by an additional 30,000 metric tonnes per year. This expansion increased the company’s total sulfuric acid production capacity to 48,000 metric tonnes annually.
Further, the company’s board approved a Balancing, Modernization, Rehabilitation, and Expansion (BMRE) project in March 2019. This initiative aimed to enhance the production capacity of Sulfuric Acid Plant Unit-1 by 18,000 metric tonnes per annum and establish new plants for Aluminum Sulfate (12,000 metric tonnes per annum) and LABSA/SLES (7,200 metric tonnes per annum).
